Citation M2 Gen2 enters service with Garmin autothrottles
Textron Aviation introduces Garmin autothrottles on the Citation M2 Gen2, enhancing speed management, workload reduction and operational precision in the light-entry jet segment.

The Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 has entered service with integrated Garmin autothrottles, following certification by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration in October 2025. The update adds automated thrust management to the light-entry jet, supporting more precise speed control and reducing pilot workload across all phases of flight.
The aircraft is designed and manufactured by Textron Aviation, a subsidiary of Textron Inc., and remains the most delivered jet in the light-entry category.
Autothrottle integration and flight operations
The Garmin autothrottle system assists pilots by automatically managing engine thrust to maintain selected airspeeds and power settings. It also provides protection against over-speed and under-speed conditions, contributing to smoother transitions during climb, cruise and descent.
By automating thrust control, the system allows pilots to focus more on situational awareness, navigation and communication, particularly during high-workload phases such as departures and approaches. The integration is designed to complement the existing Garmin G3000 avionics suite already installed on the M2 Gen2.
Aircraft performance and configuration
The Citation M2 Gen2 is designed for single-pilot operation and is powered by two Williams FJ44-1AP-21 engines. It offers a maximum cruise speed of 404 knots and a range of 1,550 nautical miles. The aircraft can operate from runways as short as 3,210 feet and climbs to a maximum operating altitude of 41,000 feet in approximately 24 minutes.
The cabin accommodates up to eight occupants and combines comfort with functionality. Features include ambient accent lighting, illuminated cupholders, wireless charging and USB-A ports at each seat, along with USB-C ports integrated into the 115 V power outlets. An optional side-facing seat can be folded to provide additional cargo capacity. In the cockpit, the co-pilot position benefits from an additional three inches of legroom.
Support and lifecycle services
Textron Aviation supports the Citation fleet through a global aftermarket network that includes company-owned service centres, authorised service facilities and mobile service units. The organisation also operates a multi-region parts distribution system offering same-day shipping for a large inventory of aircraft components, supported by round-the-clock aircraft-on-ground assistance.
With the entry into service of the Garmin autothrottle-equipped Citation M2 Gen2, Textron Aviation extends the aircraft’s operational capabilities while maintaining its position as a high-volume platform in the light-entry jet market.
