KONGSBERG and Logipix Partner to Advance Digital Airport Airside Solutions

KONGSBERG and Logipix have established a collaborative framework to deploy advanced imaging systems for remote and digital tower installations across commercial and military airport operations. The partnership addresses airside monitoring and traffic management requirements through integrated sensor fusion, computer vision, and situational awareness technologies.

Industrial Monitoring Challenges in Airside Operations
Air traffic management systems require continuous, high-definition visual tracking across extensive ground operational surfaces. Conventional optical monitoring setups often encounter latency, coverage gaps, and inadequate target tracking during complex ground movements. Addressing these challenges necessitates low-latency video distribution paired with automated visual analytical processing to maintain operational safety and efficiency in remote tower architectures.

Technical Integration and Responsibilities
Under the partnership agreement, Logipix supplies multi-sensor visual hardware and processing capabilities, including ultra-high-resolution panoramic camera systems operating at a sustained 25 frames per second. The Logipix subsystem integrates embedded artificial intelligence computer vision, automated sensor fusion, and augmented reality visual overlays designed specifically for airside operational envelopes.

KONGSBERG provides overall system integration, mission-critical architectural design, and domain-specific air traffic control deployment infrastructure. KONGSBERG embeds the incoming panoramic video feeds and analytical telemetry directly into its remote digital tower portfolio. The integration combines optical video pipelines with existing ground surveillance sensors, generating a consolidated operational display for air traffic controllers.

Operational Applications and Ground Safety
The joint technical architecture targets visual tracking, apron safety surveillance, and runway obstacle detection. Embedded computer vision algorithms automatically detect, classify, and track aircraft, support vehicles, and airfield personnel. By rendering direct visual overlays onto real-time panoramic feeds, the platform supports real-time controller decision support and operational monitoring under varying airside conditions.

System Deployment and Functional Scope
The joint technology framework applies to specialized digital tower facilities and remote aerodrome flight information centers. The combination of Logipix multi-sensor surveillance nodes with KONGSBERG command-and-control interfaces allows airfield operators to supervise separated or localized runways without maintaining physical sight lines from elevated control structures.

"Logipix imaging technology is already supporting specific requirements within our remote and digital tower portfolio," stated Hans Lie, Vice President Market and Sales at KONGSBERG. "This framework gives us an operational baseline to explore additional applications of Logipix imaging and analytical capabilities."

"KONGSBERG brings airport-domain knowledge and systems-integration expertise for demanding operational environments," added Mike Broggie, Chief Operating Officer of Logipix International Corp. "Aligning our high-resolution imaging, sensor-fusion, and monitoring technology with KONGSBERG systems provides airside customers with a more complete operational picture."
